A spinoff of the NPR show Science Friday is the podcast #ScienceDiction where in each episode they take on a science word and talk about its history. On this episode they talk about the word Algebra. And the thing I love the most about this is that it is that the main part of the story is about a high schooler, Gracie Cunningham, who posted a TikTok asking where algebra came from and it went viral and it seemed like she was made fun of by everyone but math professors. Including great stuff from @StevenStrogatz and @DrEugeniaCheng

I like that @mathequalslove continues to post puzzles that she uses for her class to solve each week. She posts them in a public space and just lets them stew over them.

You don’t have to do crazy elaborate things to engage kids and make them think. Simple tweaks are great and easy to implement.
