In Ontario, in our new(ish) grade 9 course there are expectations around number systems and the cultural significance of numbers. This is relatively new for our classes to focus on and so sometimes resources are sparse. That being said, it's great when people lay out a whole lesson that fits it and gives an interesting perspective. Thanks to @MSBJaccobs

Had a really good time in two Grade 8 classes today learning about the wonderful Kaktovik numerals. A great task for @BTCthinks #ThinkingClassrooms which I followed up with some mild, medium and spicy questions. pic.twitter.com/bEHLiWTwv6

Thanks @howie_hua! Indeed, the word "simplify" in school textbks without context drives me bonkers!

Command: Simplify√20
Response: Looks great as is to me!
All depends on what you want to do next with √20.

Is it possible to fill in the numbers 1 through 25 in this grid so that all inequalities between numbers (horizontally and vertically) are respected?

What is a necessary and sufficient condition for 2D puzzles like these to be solvable? pic.twitter.com/0Lc1ukkg9D
