I love how we can take a mistake that kids often make (adding across with fractions) and make a real thing. I also like the idea of taking a mistake a student makes and turning it into something correct. In this case Farey means.

Right now most of the @OnMathies apps are down since they were all built with Flash. But the Mathies team has funding from the ministry to rebuild these apps in HTML5. You can check out the beta version of the colour tiles app here:

I like giving students real applications of using math and specifically show them that real people use math to solve problems. In this video from @EngineeringExplained he goes through several equations to figure out things like the mass of a Tesla. You don't necessarily have to watch the whole video but, I think, it's still pretty interesting too.

Math Links for Week Ending May 21st, 2021

This week was the OAME 2021 Virtual conference so a slightly different format than normal. Here are a bunch links to resources from some of the sessions that I attended. I will probably have more next week as I watch the recordings of the sessions that I couldn't attend live but here's a sampling of what I saw.

Plus I haven't mentioned about the Math Teacher Lounge (podcast/video series?) in a while so why not kill two birds with one stone.
