Every triangle hides an equilateral triangle, even when the original triangle is completely irregular. Take any triangle. Divide each of its three angles into three equal parts. Now consider the intersections of the adjacent internal angle trisectors. The three intersection points always form an equilateral triangle. No condition is required: The original triangle may be acute, obtuse, scalene or isosceles. Its sides may have any lengths. Its angles may be completely different. Yet the hidden triangle always has three equal sides and three 60° angles. This is Morley’s trisector theorem. Local divisions of three unrelated angles produce perfect global symmetry.

I don't think that there is any sort of "magic bullet" in education and sometimes somethings are adopted as being the thing to "solve" our problems only to be in effective or to have so many moving parts that they could never succeed. I liked this blog post because it's premiss, Fish Farts, comes from a podcast episode from RadioLab that I heard and so did the author. My take away is that often the answer lies somewhere in the middle - that is the solution often means using "a little of this and a little of that"

When a student has a "hurdle" that is not visible, sometimes it's hard for teachers to see that supports are not only something in their learning plan but they are necessary for them to be on an even playing field with other students. I usually liken it to people who have to wear glasses. Those are their learning supports.

As an administrator, part of my job is evaluating staff. One of my go to asks is for teachers to work on how they both ask and answer questions of students (I am constantly suggesting that if students ask "is this right?" to always answer with "Tell me why you think it's right" as well as helping students think more like scientists (for both math and science classes).
