Resource Links

Some resources from @MathsJem. Some Geometry and algebra and more. I really like the one with different (related) expressions that asks students to read to each other to guess the expression.

I use this type of example when talking about expected value with my students. That is, the idea of how the insurance industry uses expected value to figure out how to set premiums.

I totally appreciate all the work that would have gone into these interactives for practicing dealing with mixed radicals and linear inequalities.

I love what I call Equation Strips or Bar Models but they are also know as Tape Diagrams. Here are links to my resources and a whole site relating to them

The Superbowl is coming up and so you might like this activity that uses sports betting probabilities as a real world example. And if you want to take it a step further, this podcast series on sports betting shows why you shouldn't (ie the odds and other things are stacked against you).

I think this would pair very nicely with the latest Against the Rules podcast where the latest season is about the sports betting industry and *spoiler alert* the odds are stacked against the betters-high school betting is where it starts www.pushkin.fm/podcasts/aga... #MathChat #iTeachMath #MTBoS

I used to watch the show Numbers years ago where a mathematician solved crimes. That being said, I didn't know that this new show Prime Target was also about a mathematician, this time trying to save the world with prime numbers (literally). And this substack breaks each episode down.
