Two years ago, I was saying “do you have any questions?”. Last year I switched to “what questions do you have?” It made a difference. Today I tried “ask me two questions”. And they did! And those ?s led to more ?s. It amazes me that the littlest things have such a big impact!— Andre Sasser (@MrsSasser) August 27, 2018
A new take on a classic problem from @MrOrr_Geek. Using similar triangles he provides a way for students to become curious about the result and can test that result out physically with a mirror.

If you are looking for a connection to real life for when you teach combination of functions, then you might want to check out this episode of the podcast The Sum of All Parts about how they figured out what chord was used at the beginning of The Beatles' A Hard Days Night. Spoiler alert, they used Fourier Transforms (combining functions on steroids). And while you are there check out the other episodes from this podcast which is all about numbers. An for more math related podcasts, click on the the tab above.

This is a neat site from @MrBartonMaths called Maths Venns. The idea is that students are given a prompt and some criteria to fill in on a Venn Diagram. There are topics from number sense to functions to data management. You could probably find something for just about any grade level. I could see using this as a prompt on a VNPS. Take a look.
