Math Links for Week Ending May 24th, 2019

One of the sessions that I did at OAME 2019 last week was on using Twitter (and other social media) as a PLN. After I got home I came up with this (longish) summary image to increase your presence on Twitter beyond just lurking and how to boost the visibility of your posts. I think the most important one is that one of the best things you can do is Retweet someone else's Tweet so that more people can see it (that's way better than liking it). If you have another tip, put it in the comments of the Tweet.

Here is a cool simulation revolving around how many years you have left to live. Great for when you are talking about the reality of probability and how it relates to us. Thanks to @KMarkPet for this one

A month ago we had Collections added to the features of Desmos bookmarks. Now, if you have a collection, you can share it directly with teachers. Just copy the share link and distribute, then those teachers can add the entire collection to their own

I saw this Tweet from @MFAnnie a few weeks back and I had not seen this video of her talking about her mother and how much math she did (unbeknownst to her mom) as she was making her quilts.

I liked this episode from @PlanetMoney on applied probability, that is, how James Holzhauer is using math to blow everyone away at Jeopardy.
