I'm a big fan of having students compare stuff as a vehicle to talk about math. In this post, @MrValencia24 uses "same but different" as a way to compare

Is that your repetend under my vinculum? Though I would probably teach it differently now for what ever reason, I used to love teaching this.

@MarcusduSautoy has a new book about shortcuts in mathematics. It's not about "math tricks" but more about the idea that by finding patterns we can be more efficient in how we use mathematics. Here is an interview with him on the topic.

With coding being new to the grade 9 math curriculum, I don't think there can be any shortage of materials or discussions that can be had to help. In this post @MSBJacob he goes over a lesson on coding dealing with patterning from beginning to end.

The nice thing about these Esti-Mysteries from @SteveWyborny is they start out as estimation questions but then they turn number sense problems.

There was a time in my teaching career when I did think that it was about me telling students what I knew. I feel so much better that over the last 20 years or so, that has changed for me to match this quote from @HowieHua. I do think, however, that many teachers still like to be the "sage on the stage" and that can sometimes be a roadblock to shifting to a more student centred classroom.

I definitely agree with this. For me, I don't know that I have done the same lesson twice as a teacher and it has only been by request that I've done the same presentation twice at a conference. I always try to do something new.
