In this case, @MathyCathy has created a Desmos template where students each get a slide (chosen at random) to create a problem and then have to present that problem to the rest of the class. You could probably do this with a slideshow but I think it may work better via a Desmos activity. Get all the details of the logistics of doing this in the blog post

If you are looking for an interesting context where rates are used, check out this episode of @TheIndicator. They are talking about vinyl record sales and at 6:38 they go into the calculation of how long it would take to press 500,000 records. It's just a small calculation but the context is interesting and hopefully will give students insight as to when rates can be used. Check out this podcast and many more math based podcasts.

A spinoff of the NPR show Science Friday is the podcast #ScienceDiction where in each episode they take on a science word and talk about its history. On this episode they talk about the word Algebra. And the thing I love the most about this is that it is that the main part of the story is about a high schooler, Gracie Cunningham, who posted a TikTok asking where algebra came from and it went viral and it seemed like she was made fun of by everyone but math professors. Including great stuff from @StevenStrogatz and @DrEugeniaCheng
