Math Links for Week Ending Jan 28th, 2022

I am always looking for new structures to employ in math class and I am particularly interested when someone else does all the work in creating examples. That being said, I like this one called Same but Different. And as you can see, the general idea is that you show a picture of two things and ask "What is the same? What is different?" and then the thinking occurs. On the site, created by LooneyMath, you'll find may examples from all grade levels and subject areas in math. Thanks to @MrValencia24 for pointing this one out.

This is not really math related (well, you could argue that it is) besides those of you who like @Desmos and have little kids, if you create your own activities, anything @Von_Oy does is worthy of copying just so you can see how it works.

Though I'm not a fan of worksheets, in general. I really like this representation of equivalent ratios. So take what you want from it (even if it is a worksheet).

Though I think you could just do this as a simple @OpenMiddle type question. I always appreciate how @MathEqualsLove makes things a bit more tactile.

Conic sections are out of the Ontario curriculum now but any time I can feature a video with Cliff Stoll, I'm gonna do it. And if you haven't heard the @Numberphile podcast episode with Cliff, it's literally one of my favourites. And of course, get your Kline bottle from him too.

When you look at this without considering the sum of a series, it seems like it could be tough. But maybe don't give that hint.
