Although the idea of mild, medium and spicy problems are not unique to the Thinking Classroom, they are a good way to introduce problems to students and now there is this mashup with Open Middle problems.

This is an incorrect calculation of the area of a triangle by a young Babylonian student at school around 1900-1600 BCE, excavated from the ancient city of Kish. It’s a moment in the history of math, of education, of children, of mistakes, of people being people. I love it.

Though I understand why, I am still disappointed at how the math community on Twitter fell apart. Despite that I have still stayed active there and created accounts on other platforms. I never really clicked with any of them but it seems like the math community on Blusky ( @davidpetro314.bsky.social) seems to be growing and a math community is building there again. So I'm gonna stick wth Twitter but try to participate on BlueSky as well. One of the things that I like is it's a little easier to follow hashtags. That was always my favourite way to be on the socials, following hashtags rather than people. That way you could always expect that that post was going to be relevant. On Bluesky, they are called Feeds and two that I follow are #iTeachMath and #MathSky.

The #math community seems to be growing here and becoming more active. I have presented on how to get the most of being in a community like this many times and here are my tips to grow this PLN and make it useful for educators. Bonus Tip - Use the Feeds: #MathChat #MTBoS #iTeachMath #MathSky
