This weekend I am part of the free @MakeMathMoments Virtual Summit. There is a pretty good slate of speakers (and me :-) ) Some are live, some are pre recorded. Even if you read this a few days late, you can still see some of the recording (just do it before Nov13). Just go to the website and register.Curriculum Tags: All

One of the things I'm talking about in my session is that I have been playing around with using a Desmos Activity to create online tests for students that are similar but have different values in the questions for each student. This activity isn't one of those tests. Instead it's a compilation of a bunch of possible types of questions that could be created. And by type, I don't mean the type of math but instead, how many random variables are needed to generate the questions. Check out the description for a couple of videos too. One on what the file is, in general, and the other on how you might use it to create your own questions.Curriculum Tags: All

It seemed to work well. Students "solved" the initial problems before using optimisation to replicate the result.https://t.co/u1h9r4q7wG@AlgebraDesmos @davidpetro314 #iteachmath #mathsed #mathschat pic.twitter.com/zi8ZLYpikd

You can always count on @MonaChalabi to give a unique perspective, in this case it's comparing winning the lottery to casting the winning vote. Neat comparison. If a quadratic function has odd integer outputs on three consecutive integer inputs, must it have odd integer outputs on *all* integer inputs? pic.twitter.com/6IjrA7PGbC

I thought this was an interesting way to look at how the voting was going in those slow to count states. Extrapolation to the rescue.A voter in America is five times more likely to cast THE decisive vote in the presidential election than a lottery player is to win the jackpot. Some of you still have time to make a good gamble! pic.twitter.com/tA2ScDce7L
