Math Links for Week Ending Oct 14th, 2022

Featured Links

Though this isn't necessarily a math link, I think it's important for all teachers and administrators to see. If you've followed this blog then you have probably seen me post links many times from @RobertKaplinski. This time it's a bit different. Follow this link to watch the full video of his #NCTMLA22 talk to get some insights about foster students that you may have in your classes. In fact, you may have them in your classes right now and not even know it. Regardless, understanding some of the struggles they may have is the first step into helping them succeed. Do not miss this.

If you've familiar with @PJLiljadah's workshops or book then you are familiar with the Tax Collector problem (especially as one that is good to introduce the logistics of VNPSs). Here is more work that @JRappaport27 has done to tease out the thinking on that problem.

I love when teachers find websites that could be used to collect data in an interesting way. It would be cool to have students submit images (maybe even of themselves) to discuss the implications of what is considered "beautiful"

If we can do a better job of connecting play with mathematics, then we could make huge strides in helping show students that they can do math. In this post @a_mcsquared, gives us some reasons to focus on play and some ways to get there. I love @sergeballif's Golf game.
