I like it when teachers are willing to try interesting things with assessment. Years ago, I saw a video from Leah Alcala using a method called "My Favourite No". Now she uses some similar techniques to actually do some assessing.

I love Leah Alcala's alternative method for grading tests. She found that when she put a grade on it, "kids would look at their grade, decide whether they were good at math or not, and put the test away." Here's her method: https://t.co/fYEcBQvg9I #iteachmath #MTBoS pic.twitter.com/LqattGXwVc

I've always been a fan of Tarsia puzzles (here are a few that I've made). Partly because it's a nice self checking way for students to practice math and partly because the software is free (as long as you have a PC)

It's time to kick off #MathPhoto23! During week 1, look for #nine to mark the ninth year of the math photo challenge. Where do you see nine as a shape, quantity or numeral? Take photos and post to Twitter using the hashtags #MathPhoto23 and #nine. #MTBoS #ITeachMath pic.twitter.com/VNNRwyWutL
